J. Douglas Farrell

J. Douglas Farrell was admitted to practice law in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in 1992.   Mr. Farrell is a partner in the law firm of Stewart, Sorice, Farrell, Finoli & Cavanaugh, LLC, located in Greensburg, Pennsylvania. He practices in the areas of family law, divorce mediation, estate planning and administration, real estate and personal injury.

In regards to his personal injury and estate planning practices, Mr. Farrell has effectuated six and seven figure recoveries for several of his clients in personal injury matters and offers estate planning and administration services by providing last will and testaments, powers of attorney, and living wills for his clients.

Mr. Farrell has concentrated his practice in family law matters including divorce, custody and child support.  Mr. Farrell has applied his firsthand experience in traditional divorce litigation by representing his clients in equitable distribution, alimony, child and spousal support, and custody hearings and trials.  Mr. Farrell also has mediated domestic disputes for individuals to dissolve their marriage without resorting to litigation as a partner in his law firm located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. 

As a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator, Mr. Farrell also offers mediation services to divorcing couples in Naples, Florida and the surrounding communities of Collier and Lee Counties.

On a regular basis, the Judges of the Court of Common Pleas of Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania appoints Mr. Farrell as a divorce master to hear some of the most complex equitable distribution cases in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.  Mr. Farrell has applied his knowledge in the area of family law and his mediation skills to assist counsel and the parties to effectuate amicable resolutions to these cases without the parties resorting to extensive litigation.

Mr. Farrell also independently conducts seminars on divorce mediation at the Cooperative Divorce Center LLC located in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.  The Cooperative Divorce Center LLC provides ongoing educational seminars and orientation programs to the general public, sponsors mediation training programs for attorneys who would like to become trained mediators and promotes the use of divorce mediation and alternative dispute resolution to resolve domestic matters.  Mr. Farrell has lectured and presented at such training programs and orientation programs on the benefits of divorce mediation.

Mr. Farrell is also a founding member of the Westmoreland Mediation Academy.  The mission of the academy is to establish and maintain an integrated group of lawyers skilled and experienced in the legal practice of Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) with the objective of improving and enhancing the administration of justice through private mediation, assist the courts in prompt and just disposition of cases and maintaining the highest standards of ethical conduct among its members.  To this end, the academy members also provide advanced ADR training to attorneys desirous of becoming trained ADR practitioners.

Mr. Farrell completed a 40 hour mediation training course sponsored by the Federal Bar Association that was held at the U.S. District Courthouse for the Western District of Pennsylvania located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; completed training in Collaborative Law; and completed an additional 40 hour mediation training program in Florida where he received certification as a Florida Supreme Court Certified Family Mediator. 

Mr. Farrell offers mediation services to residents of both Pennsylvania and Florida.
